Help Us Identify Coastal Acidification Monitoring Needs With This Short Survey

SECOORA invites all members and stakeholders to participate in this short 10-minute survey to help us identify coastal acidification areas of concern. The results will directly inform the Interagency Working Group on Ocean Acidification’s (IWGOA) upcoming call for information on priority monitoring needs.

The Southeast Ocean and Coastal Acidification Network (SOCAN) and the Gulf of Mexico Coastal Acidification Network (GCAN) have joined forces to address where acidification monitoring is needed. SOCAN and GCAN need your help to identify coastal acidification areas of concern.

About the Survey that will Influence Coastal Acidification Monitoring

This project is designed to collect information from stakeholders to help identify areas of concern. The results of this project will directly inform the Interagency Working Group on Ocean Acidification’s (IWGOA) upcoming call for information on priority monitoring needs.

SECOORA invites all our members and stakeholders to participate in the survey. No prior knowledge of acidification is needed to participate. We want to hear what your perception of acidification is and why it is a concern to you.

The 10-minute questionnaire is available through Google Forms and is completely anonymous. We ask that only stakeholders with interests in Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina take part in this questionnaire.

The survey closes on March 31, 2023. Click here to complete the survey.

SOCAN and GCAN will compile the responses and present a report-card style assessment of ecosystems – ranking monitoring needs across the Gulf of Mexico and the Southeast.

Engage with SOCAN

The project team will be presenting a short state-of-the-science presentation to several National Estuary Programs this spring. These presentations will be interactive and overview state/local acidification research and general knowledge. If you would like to virtually attend one of our meetings or schedule a time for us to present, please email socan@secoora.pactmedia.org. SOCAN would love to meet with you and expand their project outreach.
